Navan is Meath's largest town and is the administrative centre of the county. Yet, until recent years it lacked an event to mark St. Patrick's Day, who lit fires just a few miles away at Slane and Tara. It was for this reason that in 2001 it was deemed only right that the town should have a fitting event, and the Shamrock Festival was born.

Our enthusiasm has been recognised and supported in the subsequent years by our generous local sponsors. That said, no matter how much work we put into organising the forthcoming festival, it is nothing without you, the local people of Navan. As we reach city status, we hope that the new and expanding population will row in with us and truly make it a community event to remember.

We also hope it will provide us with an outlet for all those who have recently moved to the town to make new friends and begin forming a true bond with their new home.

All that is left to say is come March 17th you turn your telly off, grab your spouse and shamrock and get off your backside down to a festival to remember. With a wide range of events to choose from there is surely a pursuit especially for you.
