Wednesday 9th March

  • 10am-1pm, Creative Writing workshop open to all budding writers hosted by Edel Gillick Booking essential as places limited (046) 9031134. ADM free. Navan Library.
  • 9pm-Late, Traditional Music by the fireside, Tom Duff and friends , The Lantern Watergate St. ADM free

Thursday 10th March

  • 10.30am-12 noon, Old Time & Céili - for members of the Active Retirement Group and Invited Guests. The Community Centre, Trimgate Street.
  • 7pm-9pm, Small Impact Writers Group host "In my father's Time" a nostalgic trip from past to present day Ireland through creative writing, prose, poetry and Music - Complimented by an exhibition by Meath Arts group - Prize giving for Shamrock Festival Art and Prose competition. Navan Library.
  • Teach Na Teamhrach - Trad Session with Local Artists. Teach na Teamhrach.

Friday 11th March

  • 8pm, Official Welcome for the Canadian Ambassador, Talk given by Noel French on Meath Men in the Canadian Forces in WW1 plus the connection between Navan, Co. Meath and Navan, Canada. Navan Town Hall, Watergate Street.
  • 9pm, Salmon of Knowledge Table Quiz, Table of 4 - €20. All proceeds to Navan Shamrock Festival. The Stone House

  • 1pm, Arrival of Delegates from Broccostella, Italy for Town Twinning. Newgrange Hotel
  • 2pm-5pm, Navan Travellers Workshop present Travellers Living History Project, Local Meath Heritage Talk presented by Local Historian Joe Conlon. Andy Brennan Park.
  • 5pm-7pm, Live Traditional music by members of the Navan branch of Comhaltas Ceóltoirí Éireann. Come, Listen and Enjoy. Navan Town Centre.

  • 12 noon-4pm, Ceol na nÓg {Navan Youth Band Showcase}. Kennedy Plaza.
  • 12 noon. Paddy's Fun Cycle - leisurely stroll around Navan by bicycle - All invited. Charity Fundraiser for Cancer Care. Starting point - Teach an Teamhrach (formerly Balreask Arms).

Promotional Events Planned
  • The streets of our town will be covered in green and gold bunting
  • Fairground attractions will be available to all in our Fair Green
  • There will be a prize awarded by Festival Committee to the best dressed green shop window display
  • Signs reflecting that a festival is taking place in the town will be erected on all approach roads
The Festival Committee hope the whole town of Navan play their part in celebrating our National Holiday by taking part in some of the events or by coming out to show their support.
