We've had an awesome response for the 2011 Voices of Navan!
So much so that recording will now take place over 3 nights next week - Tuesday 1st, Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd of March - at the Backroom in the Lantern.
Wednesday has been reserved for trad musicians who have signed up through the Lantern itself so all other artists are invited to come and record a song on either Tuesday
or Thursday.
Recording will start from 7pm both evenings and will be done with a live performance of your chosen song (no overdubbing or multiple takes I'm afraid!).
Please let us know ASAP which would suit you best and also what your set-up will be i.e. 2 guitars, 2 vocals, bass etc. We'll then be able to advise what time your slot is
and when you need to arrive at the Lantern.
For legal reasons, you need to be sure that you either own the rights to the song you'll be performing (if you wrote it, you definitely do!) or at least have permission from
the composer to record it for the purpose of the CD, which will be sold through the Shamrock Festival.
If you are unable to make it for the live recordings, you are welcome to submit a pre-recorded track which will be later added to the album. You can send these to me by email: jb-26@hotmail.com.
It would be brilliant to have the above info back from you all before the weekend (26/27th Feb 2011) is out!
Thanks for getting involved in the 2011 Voices of Navan. It will be great to capture some of the musical magic happening in the town at the moment and hopefully we'll all have plenty of craic in the process!
